There is a sense of justice in the heart of every person who has good feelings. A person with a good and caring heart who sees a tall, muscular man hitting a short, skinny young man feels indignation and the urge to defend the weaker. But there are situations in which we see the abuse of the strong against the weak who are in distant countries and it seems impossible for us to defend such injustice.
A few days ago, I was able to read on the news that a powerful contry is invading a small country and attacking it with its armies in order to steal the small coutry’s territory. By seeing this my soul is filled with anxiety and impotence. I was searching the scriptures and found a passage that enlightened me, it is the following: “Deliver those who are led to death; Save those who are in danger of death. Because if you say: Certainly, we did not know, will not he who weighs hearts understand? He who looks after your soul, he will know it, and will give to a man according to his works”. Proverbs 24:11-12.
And someone will ask, how can I deliver those who are led to death and save those who are in danger of death? Although human beings have free will and some use power to oppress others, I want for you to know that God does not agree nor approve of it. Each one will give an account for their works and will have their consequence and punishment for their own guilt. With our prayers a change can take place. We can cry out to God to touch the hearts of the leaders involved in the conflict. We can join in prayer with others in our community and around the world, for the same purpose asking God for protection for the people who are victims of the attack, and for divine intervention to stop injustice. We just need to ask with all our hearts and with faith.
“By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land, and when the Egyptians attempted to do so, they were drowned. By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after being surrounded for seven days.” Hebrews 11:29-30.
“And whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22. NBL
This is the day of salvation. If you have not yet given your life to Jesus Christ, come to him today, and receive the gift of eternal life.
“I have told you all this so that, united with me, you may find peace. In the world they will have sufferings; but take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. BLPH
If you want to be free from the fear and anxiety that comes from seeing unjust wars, pray this prayer with me:
Heavenly Father, I ask your forgiveness for my sins, I repent with all my heart, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he died for my sins and rose on the third day, and I ask that you receive me as your child and make me free from fear because you love me and accept me. Make me a new creature and fill my life with you and your love, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
